No screaming, no chaos; nothing.
Just a soft hissing, like the air being let out of a balloon, fading to a whisper, followed by an all-consuming
silence.
This sounds the reader would be expecting screaming and chaos, so this makes for a great surprise ending. The hissing, like the air being let out of a balloon, is perfect visual and aural imagery!
